Baptist Health Louisville named among Best Places to Work in Kentucky

Best Places to Work in Kentucky 2013

Ninth consecutive year

Baptist Health Louisville (formerly known as Baptist Hospital East) has been named as one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky (large employer category) for the ninth time, making the list every year since the program was created.

Baptist Health Louisville made the Top 20 list this time, as did sister hospitals Baptist Health Lexington and Baptist Health La Grange (formerly Baptist Hospital Northeast).

Only four other organizations in Kentucky – including Baptist Health Lexington (formerly known as Central Baptist) – can claim this honor.

This statewide survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Kentucky, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. There were 40 companies chosen in the large employer category (250 or more employees); with 74 companies chosen overall.

“To earn this distinction nine years running speaks volumes about the ongoing commitment and enthusiasm of our staff in creating a dynamic work environment for patient care,” said President David Gray. “This sends yet another message to the community that Baptist is as strong and healthy as ever.”

What makes Baptist Health Louisville a best place to work? Having an on-site day care, bank, beauty salon and dry cleaning pickup are factors, along with close proximity to the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center where employees enjoy a discount. An employee wellness program, including marked indoor walking trails plus a route through Brown Park next door are more recent developments. Other amenities include a private room for breastfeeding mothers and meditation rooms on each floor of the Park Tower for employee use.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Kentucky. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation.

The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation..
