Hospice beds offered

Hospice beds for terminally-ill inpatients are now available at Baptist Hospital East.

While similar to palliative care, hospice care differs because the patient is terminally-ill. With palliative care – which also provides comfort measures – the patient may not be terminally-ill, but has chosen to limit his or her treatment.

Baptist East also offers a newly renovated 15-bed Palliative Care unit with all private rooms.

Hospice patients will ultimately be moved to a hospice unit or nursing home. Baptist Hospital Northeast in La Grange recently opened a 12-bed inpatient hospice unit, staffed by Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville.

The unit offers short-term inpatient care to address pain control and/or other acute/chronic symptoms that cannot be managed in other settings.
